Why are Players of Gujarat Fond of Playing Deals Rummy?

We all know how popular Gujaratis are for their exceptional entrepreneurship qualities, and their talent to turn any available opportunity into a profitable business venture. For entertainment, the people here prefer playing games that both enhance their skills and at the same time help in adding to their wealth. It's a major reason why everyone loves playing Online Rummy in Gujarat. Did you know that of all the variants, Deals Rummy is the only one that has gained much traction in the state? Yes, that's true, and before we begin listing the reasons, it's essential you know the major differences between all three variants of the 13-card game.

What Are The Variants Of 13-Card Rummy?

13-card Rummy, popularly known as Indian Rummy has three main variants, i.e., Points, Pool and Deals Rummy. These three are further divided into sub-variants, as explained below:

Points Rummy: Also known as the quickest rummy variant, the only objective here is to make valid melds and declare the game in the shortest time possible. Players only get a single opportunity per game to prove their mettle and utilize their skills wisely to grab a win.

Pool Rummy: As the name signifies, in Pool Rummy, losing players' points keep adding up after every round until they get eliminated. There are two sub-variants, namely 101 Pool Rummy and 201 Pool rummy where the numerical value represents the maximum points a player accumulates. Here, players also have a buy-in option, subject to fulfilment of certain conditions.

Deals Rummy: In this variant, each player gets an equal number of chips before the game begins, where the player having maximum chips after game ends is declared the winner. Each game comprises 2-3 rounds, popularly known as Best of 2(BO2) and Best of 3(BO3) deals rummy games. The game is usually played only on 2-player tables, with the other rules being similar to any other variant.

Why is Deals Rummy so Popular in Gujarat?

Now that you know about all the Indian Rummy variants, you might be anxious to understand why Deals Rummy is so prevalent in Gujarat.

Playing with Chips

In Deals rummy, each player is allotted a specific number of chips, valued at 1 point each. It is easier to keep track of chips lost/gained than assessing every player's points, just like in Points and Pool rummy games. It's also easier for players' to plan their game strategy based on their position at the tables.

The Perfect Blend of Points and Pool

Most rummy lovers agree that Deals Rummy is a combination of the Points and Pool variants. Deals Rummy provides the perfect solution for those wishing to enjoy quicker games, yet one with multiple rounds. Just like Points Rummy, a single game may end take at most 5-7 minutes, the difference being that here the winner is one who has the highest number of chips. It is similar to Pool Rummy since the game comprises multiple rounds, allowing every player ample opportunity to turn a losing game in their favour.

Scope of Improvement

A significant advantage of playing the deals rummy variant is that every player gets an opportunity to improve their score in a consecutive deal. In fact, many players are even able to turn a losing game into a triumphant victory, merely by observing their opponent well in the first round and using this information in consecutive deals to outwit them. In a way, it reflects the true spirit of a Gujarati, who are known to keep on improving themselves despite the number of hurdles, and emerging victorious in the end.

Preparation for Tournaments

Time is Money for any native of Gujarat, and it's yet another reason for the high popularity of Deals rummy variant in the state. All rummy tournaments are entirely based on deals rummy format. By playing BO2 or BO3 deals games more often, Gujaratis enjoy a quick game and sharpen their skills to compete in more challenging yet exciting tournaments.

Summing Up

Gujaratis' don't miss any opportunity to enhance any skills that help improve their productivity. It is probably why they tend to enjoy Deals Rummy Games more since these are quick to play, have a fixed entry fee, and prepare players well for competing in tournaments. But deals rummy is not the only variant Gujarat people love playing. They are equally adept and highly competitive for other variants of 13-card Rummy, often grabbing big rewards at both cash tables tournaments. So, if you are a true Gujarati and have been considering enhancing your cognitive skills, getting to the vibrant tables at Rummy Passion is the best way to get started. Not only will you be able to improve your skills, but also do so in a fun and exciting way.

Deals Rummy is played between minimum 2 and maximum 6 players. The number of deals to be played is decided before hand. In the beginning of the game, chips are given to the players. One chip is equal to one point. If there are six deals to be played, each player will get 6*80= 480 chips. Player with the highest number of chips at the end of sixth deal is the winner.

Here are the basic rules of deal rummy.

  • Each player should play all the six deals. In fact, there is no drop option if the game is played between 2 players.
  • The game is played with 2 or 3 decks, depending on the number of players. One printed joker from each deck is used and there is one wild card joker that is picked at the start of the game. Apart from the picked wild card, all other cards of this number from all the decks are considered as jokers.
  • There is a compulsion of making one pure sequence and one impure sequence so as to confirm the show. Rest of the cards can be formed into sets and or sequences.
  • The losing side gets points based on the unformed sequences and sets in their hand. If there is neither a sequence nor a set and if the player makes an invalid show then all his cards are counted and he loses the game. An impure sequence is counted if there is a valid pure sequence.
  • Impure sequence or set is formed with the help of the Jokers.
  • Joker does not carry any points while Aces, Jack King, and Queen carry 10 points each. Rest of the cards are based on their face value.
  • The player who loses the game gets points equaling the number of unused cards in their hand.
Every time the points of losing player are added to the balance of winning player. In fact, these points are deducted from the losing players balance. In case of tie, one more game is played to decide the winner. The organizers fee is deducted from the winning amount.
